What is a private GP consultation?

A private consultation is a one-to-one appointment with a pharmacist to discuss a health concern. The pharmacist will assess your symptoms, give advice, and explain treatment options.

Do I need a GP appointment or referral?

No. You can book directly with the pharmacy. A GP appointment is not needed to use this service.

What can I be seen for?

Private consultations can cover a range of common conditions. The pharmacist will let you know if your concern is suitable or if you need to be referred elsewhere.

Can the pharmacist prescribe medicine?

If treatment is appropriate, the pharmacist may be able to supply prescription-strength medicine through the private service. This depends on your condition and suitability.

What if my condition isn’t suitable?

If a private consultation isn’t the right option, the pharmacist will explain why and advise you on the next step, such as contacting your GP or another NHS service.

Can I come back for follow-up advice?

Yes. You can book another consultation if you need further support or have questions after treatment.
