Prontosan Wound Irrigation Solution 350ml

Use at each dressing change or as your clinician directs. Rinse the wound thoroughly with the solution straight from the bottle, allowing a contact time of at least one minute. Where crusts, slough or coatings cling to the wound, soak a sterile compress with Prontosan and leave it on the wound for 10 to 15 minutes before continuing. The solution is ready to use; do not dilute it. Once opened, write the date on the bottle and use it within the in-use period stated on the label.

Purified water, 0.1% polihexanide (polyhexamethylene biguanide, PHMB) and 0.1% undecylenamidopropyl betaine. See the pack for the full composition. Prontosan is a medical device manufactured by B. Braun.

For external use on skin and wounds only; not for injection and not to be swallowed. Do not use on anyone with a known sensitivity to polihexanide (PHMB), betaine or any other ingredient; allergic reactions to PHMB are rare but have been reported, so stop use and seek medical help if a rash, swelling or breathing difficulty develops. Prontosan reduces bacterial colonisation of the wound; it does not sterilise it, and any wound that worsens or shows signs of infection needs review by a pharmacist, nurse or GP. Do not use after the expiry date. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
