Ages 12 to 15: one tablet every six hours, no more than four in 24 hours. Not for children under 12. Leave at least four hours after taking any other painkiller before taking this medicine. Do not take it for more than three days; if the pain has not settled by then, speak to your pharmacist or GP. Codeine commonly causes constipation, nausea, drowsiness and dizziness; do not drive or use machinery if affected. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor first if you are pregnant, take sedatives, sleeping tablets or antidepressants, or have breathing, liver or kidney problems. Taking this medicine for longer than directed can lead to addiction, and stopping suddenly after prolonged use can cause withdrawal symptoms. In the event of an overdose seek immediate medical help, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage from paracetamol.
